I was lucky enough to be invited to the opening night of South Pacific, a play showing at the Crown theatre in Perth. I love plays, unfortunately my Husband and I don’t get to go to the theatre as often as we would like… as with all parents of small children the theatre is one thing we don’t really get time for. However last Thursday (yes we went out on a school night!) my mum kindly offered to watch our children so that we could attend. I have a confession, Lisa McCune was my absolute favourite when I was younger, every Tuesday night Blue Heelers. Needless to say I was super excited to be 1. Attending the theatre and 2. Getting to watch Lisa up close on stage.
South Pacific was one of the best plays I have seen, the costumes weren’t at all flashy and there weren’t a truck load of props… it was just brilliant theatre at its best and it is easy to see why it was winner of 7 Tony awards and had sell out seasons on Broadway and West End. Lisa McCune and Christine Anu (who was unrecognizable) were ah-mazing but for me Mitchell Butel who plays Luther Billis was the absolute standout. I don’t want to give anything away, you must go and see it! South Pacific is showing in Perth for another 18 days so get in quick! Purchase tickets here.
And in other news… I reclaimed the toy room for myself. Finally. I had a massive ‘toy clean up’ and it feels great to have a room to store my books and magazines rather than in plastic tubs all over the house wherever there was room. I even got to hang my Vogue artwork up. I cant wait to spend some time in my new room.
