Its no secret (and by now you all would know) how much I love my hairdresser, no more so than last Wednesday when I phoned Grace in a panic! A panic of gargantuan proportions… I had ‘achieved’ the most inconceivable thing imaginable, if you haven’t already guessed by the title… here it is… I burnt my hair! And when I say I burnt my hair I mean burnt it… off, I turned the brush bristles to ash and as I pulled the brush around to survey the damage, there it was… one whole sectioned off row of hair hanging from the brush.
Now I could lie and say I was in total control with a plan already devised in my head and in the right frame of mind but I would be lying. I was F-R-E-A-K-E-D… not sure if it was the smell of my burnt hair, the fact that my head was still hot or if I was in shock looking at the beautiful locks still attached to the smouldering brush, either way what came next was a flood of tears that couldn’t even be consoled by my ever loving husband… for about 5 minutes at least, until I got it together.
Now, let me explain… I am a little uncoordinated when it comes to blow drying my hair, the brush is always in the wrong hand, the hairdryer is always in the wrong hand and I feel like my 5 year old has much better hand eye coordination than me when I am attempting to blow wave my hair (yes…attempting…as in NOT succeeding). I will keep it short, in this case the brush got caught and while I was removing it, it didn’t seem to occur to me that I should remove the hairdryer…ending in my hair snapping off.
Grace was my first point of call (of course) and she had the salon all set up for emergency repairs, colours, hair extensions, treatments and by the time I walked in, my eyes were swollen, my head thumping and my heart racing… What would be the outcome?
As it turned out, all it needed was a little colour gloss, a slightly darker colour (for extra shine!) and some TLC… all of which Grace provided.
Thank you Grace!!
