My two favourite cities in the world… New York and Paris – Great for fashion, food and fancy. For those of you that don’t know me, next to fashion, cooking is my other passion… and more importantly, eating. I had heard ‘The Heritage Bar and Brasserie’ in St Georges Terrace Perth was a mix of NYC meets Paris, so of course I had to try it out. Friday afternoon my husband treated me to a lunch at the place that was as close to NYC or Paris as I was going to get this year and I must say that I wasn’t disappointed. The decor was grand, the waiters dressed in black and white vests and ties, and as I sat down I realised I was having a Carrie Bradshaw/Mr Big moment. It had my vote already.
I decided that since my husband and I do not partake in such activities mid week (or at all for that matter) that I would make the most of my Friday lunch and order a cocktail (at $20 a pop I did think it was a little steep but my husband insisted I order something) now, I don’t drink… at all so I ordered something that I thought we be light and fruity, cue the ‘Alfonso’ – I can’t recall what it had in it exactly but I do remember that it had champagne… and something else.
Next we ordered our meal (it was quick as I did have children to collect, washing to put on and some groceries to pick up – yep the Carrie/Big moment had vanished as quickly as it appeared) and I couldn’t go past the rice and scallops, styled delightfully I might add. As I ate my meal I looked around to see dashing young men and stylish women sitting having their ‘business’ lunches and for a moment I did forget where I was, I could quite easily have been in the heart of Manhattan waiting for Samantha, Miranda or Charlotte to walk through the door (yes I know they are fictional but you get the gist!).
So, if you are craving a little New York and like me will have to wait to visit the big apple, try The Heritage… just for a little taste.
