It started out like any other Friday, I dropped the kids off to school and proceeded to my hairdressers appointment…well technically it wasn’t like every other normal Friday, considering I woke up to find the fridge had broken down and my 5 year old son told me not to ‘hang around’ once I dropped him off to his classroom (my son, who has wanted me to stay until the bell rings every day for the last two years now decides he doesn’t need me). They say (whoever ‘they’ are) that bad things happen in 3’s and so I should have realised I still had one more to go!
I arrived at my hairdressers appointment and I was looking forward to my head massage to compensate for my (mildly) rough morning when I heard the words that I had been dreading for the last five years “I have some news to tell you” – I thought I knew what she was going to say… I mean, my lovely Grace was recently married and I thought the inevitable ‘I’m having a baby’ was surely about to come next… I was already elated for her and thought to myself ‘great, still nine more months to get used to the idea’ just as I was about to offer my congratulations came the unexpected “I’m leaving and no I’m not having a baby”. LEAVING? as in LEAVING?… LEAVING! My hairdresser, the one woman that I have raved about for the last five years and on this blog for the last 6 months was leaving me.
Of course I was in shock, I hadn’t been expecting her to leave (to be honest I never thought that it could actually happen unless she was going to have a baby and in which case she was most certainly going to come back – according to me) but now here I was about to lose my hairdresser… and a friend (in only 2 weeks). Hairdressers are funny like that, they have an ease about them and you just want to spill your life story to them every time you see them. I’m going to miss you Grace, not only because you are the best at what you do but because you have come to be a wonderful friend as well. I wish you luck in your new role.
So, that leaves you Candice… I know you are fantastic, but are your ready for me…
