Olivia Palermo in Alexandre Birman Python/cork heels ($695.00 Bergdorf Goodman)
Its true… I am Olivia Palermo obsessed… everything she does is perfection (well almost everything, I will forgive you for that OTT 60’s hair that you wore once Olivia – after all everyone is allowed one fashion faux pas in a lifetime) and she shares my style through and through. Of course its no secret that her clothes are amazing but more than that she has the knack of making high street look expensive… this is the reason that I admire her style. Anyone can do head to toe designer and some not very well but its the art of mixing high street with high end that has the biggest impact in an outfit, and the ability to make the high street look high end, well that’s just pure class.
Some people just have it – you know what I mean… that thing that you cant describe, an unspoken glamour, a beauty that is not typically beautiful, the ability to look amazing in the most plainest of clothes… you know “IT”. I have never been able to put my finger on why some people have “it” and others don’t. I have often seen two people wearing very similar outfits and yet one person will make me want to go out and purchase the whole thing and the other simply makes me say ” she looks nice”. Is it because the one that has the biggest impact on me is the one that has the biggest confidence? She believes she looks sensational there for she does. Countless times I have told my dear cousin (when I have styled her) that she needs to WEAR the clothes, put them on, stand up straight, believe that she looks as beautiful as she does, exude a certain confidence, I as her stylist can only do so much, once the clothes are on the rest is up to her…
So perhaps I have answered my own question… the key to having “it” is to believe that you have it, high street or high end, if you think you own it then you own it.
